Fixing and buying guide
32 x 138MM S/W DOOR LINING SETS WITH STOPS 2'6"/2'9"
What you're buying
This is a complete softwood door lining set with integral stops, sized at 32 x 138mm. The set includes all frame components needed to line a doorway opening, with stops already incorporated into the design to receive a standard internal door. Two height options are available: 2'6" (762mm) and 2'9" (838mm), allowing you to match your doorway dimensions.
- Softwood construction suitable for painting or staining
- Integral stops eliminate separate stop installation
- 32mm depth provides standard frame thickness
- 138mm face width accommodates typical wall thicknesses
- Available in two standard heights for common UK doorway sizes
Who needs this and compatibility
These lining sets suit builders, contractors, and serious DIYers installing internal doors in residential or light commercial projects. They work with standard internal doors (typically 32mm thick) and are compatible with most wall constructions where the wall thickness falls within the 138mm face width. Check your wall thickness before ordering to ensure the lining will sit flush with your finished surfaces.
- Internal door installations only
- Standard 32mm internal doors
- Walls approximately 100-138mm thick when finished
- New build and renovation projects
Pre-installation checks and preparation
Before fixing, measure your doorway opening height and width to confirm which size you need. Inspect the lining set for damage in transit and check that all components are present. Ensure your doorway opening is square and plumb using a spirit level, as out-of-square openings will cause fitting difficulties. Allow the softwood to acclimatise to your site conditions for 48 hours before installation.
- Verify doorway height matches your chosen size (2'6" or 2'9")
- Check opening is square and plumb
- Inspect for transit damage before fixing
- Allow softwood acclimatisation time on site
- Confirm wall thickness suits 138mm lining width
Fixing and finishing
Fix the lining set into the doorway opening using timber shims and appropriate fixings (screws or nails) through the frame into the surrounding structure. Ensure the frame remains square and plumb throughout installation. Once fixed, fill any gaps between the lining and wall with appropriate filler or sealant. The softwood can then be decorated to match your interior scheme.
- Use shims to achieve plumb and square alignment
- Secure with screws or nails into surrounding structure
- Check square and plumb at multiple points during fixing
- Fill gaps with appropriate filler before decoration
- Prime and paint or stain as required
