Fixing and buying guide
Rigid PIR Insulation 1200 x 2400 x 25mm
What this product is and who it is for
This is a rigid foam insulation board suitable for professional builders, contractors and experienced DIY installers working on residential and light commercial projects. It performs well in cavity walls, between floor joists, above rafters and in other space-constrained applications where 25mm thickness fits your insulation strategy. The 1200 x 2400mm sheet size balances site coverage with practical manual handling on ladders and scaffolding.
Compatibility and application
The board is compatible with standard timber and steel frame construction. Compressive strength of 175 kPa means it will support typical loads in floor and roof applications without crushing. Use with appropriate vapour control layers, mechanical fixings or adhesives depending on your build detail. Confirm your building control requirements and thermal performance targets before ordering, as 25mm thickness is often part of a layered insulation approach rather than a standalone solution.
- Suitable for walls, floors and roofs in new build and retrofit work
- Works with timber and steel frame construction
- Thermal conductivity 0.022 W/mK provides consistent performance
- BBA certified for building control approval
Sizing, pack contents and brand availability
Each board measures 1200 x 2400 x 25mm. We supply whichever brand is currently in stock from Ecotherm, IKO, Mannok, Recticel or Unilin; all meet the same performance specification. Check your order confirmation for the brand dispatched. Calculate your coverage by dividing total area (in square metres) by 2.88 square metres per board, then add 5 to 10 percent for waste and cutting around obstacles.
- Single board covers 2.88 m² at 1200 x 2400mm
- Brand supplied depends on current stock availability
- All brands meet identical thermal and structural specifications
- Order extra boards to account for cutting and site waste
Pre-installation checks and handling
Inspect boards for damage before fixing. Store flat and dry on site; avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or moisture. Confirm your fixing method in advance—mechanical fixings, adhesive or a combination depending on your application and building detail. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and level. Wear appropriate PPE including gloves and a dust mask when cutting or handling the foam. Plan your layout to minimise waste and ensure boards are staggered in multi-layer applications.
- Check boards are undamaged and store flat in a dry location
- Confirm your fixing strategy before installation begins
- Prepare substrate: clean, dry and level
- Wear gloves and dust mask when cutting or handling
