How and where to use guide
Rigid PIR Insulation 1200 x 2400 x 90mm
Typical applications
This board is designed for use in wall insulation, floor insulation and roof insulation across new build construction and retrofit projects. The 90mm thickness strikes a practical balance for most standard building applications where thermal performance and ease of installation are priorities. It is suitable for both internal and external applications depending on your project specification and building regulations requirements.
- Cavity wall insulation in new build and refurbishment
- Pitched roof insulation between rafters or above purlins
- Suspended floor insulation between joists
- Flat roof insulation in warm roof constructions
- Retrofit insulation projects where board weight and handling are considerations
Installation and handling
The lightweight rigid board format is designed for straightforward on-site handling and faster installation. Boards measure 1200 x 2400mm, allowing efficient coverage of standard building dimensions. Ensure the substrate is clean, dry and level before installation. Boards should be cut to fit around obstacles, services and building elements using a fine-toothed saw or hot-wire cutter. Secure boards according to your specification using mechanical fixings, adhesive or a combination method appropriate to the application and substrate type.
- Check substrate is clean, dry and level before fixing
- Cut boards carefully around pipes, cables and structural elements
- Stagger board joints to avoid continuous lines across the insulation layer
- Ensure boards are fully supported and in contact with the substrate
- Follow your specification for fixing method and spacing requirements
Thermal and structural performance
The thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK delivers consistent thermal resistance for meeting building regulations and specification requirements. Compressive strength of 175 kPa means the board can support loads in floor applications and resist point loads during installation and use. The rigid PIR construction maintains its thermal properties and structural integrity throughout the building's life, providing reliable long-term performance.
- Thermal conductivity 0.022 W/mK for predictable U-value calculations
- Compressive strength 175 kPa suitable for floor and load-bearing applications
- Rigid foam construction resists compression and maintains performance
- BBA-backed product assurance for specification confidence
On-site storage and safety
Store boards flat and dry on site, protected from weather and site traffic. Avoid stacking excessive weight on top of boards before installation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when cutting, including eye protection and a dust mask, as cutting rigid foam generates fine particles. Ensure adequate ventilation when working with the product. Follow your site safety procedures and any specific guidance provided with the product delivery.
- Store boards flat in a dry location away from direct weather exposure
- Protect from site traffic and mechanical damage during storage
- Wear eye protection and dust mask when cutting boards
- Use appropriate cutting tools to minimise dust generation
- Ensure adequate ventilation in enclosed spaces during installation
