How and where to use guide

Regency Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 80mm

Typical applications

This profiled MDF board is commonly used in construction projects, furniture making, and interior fit-out work. The 80mm width and profiled design make it particularly suitable for decorative wall panelling, skirting boards, architrave work, and cabinet construction. It is ideal for use in moisture-prone environments such as kitchens and bathrooms where standard MDF would be unsuitable.

  • Interior wall panelling and feature walls
  • Skirting boards and decorative trim
  • Furniture and cabinet construction
  • Architrave and door frame applications
  • Kitchen and bathroom fit-out work

Installation and preparation

The board arrives primed, which means you can proceed directly to decoration or installation without additional primer application. The profiled design allows for straightforward installation with minimal cutting waste. Ensure the board is acclimatised to the room conditions for 48 hours before installation, particularly in moisture-prone areas. Use appropriate fixings for your substrate, and seal any cut edges with paint or sealant to maintain the moisture-resistant properties.

  • Allow 48 hours acclimatisation in the installation environment
  • Seal all cut edges with paint or appropriate sealant
  • Use corrosion-resistant fixings in moisture-prone areas
  • Ensure adequate ventilation during and after installation

Moisture resistance and maintenance

The moisture-resistant coating provides protection against water and humidity, making this product suitable for bathrooms and kitchens. However, it is not designed for external use or areas of direct water contact. Regular maintenance involves wiping down with a damp cloth and ensuring good ventilation to prevent moisture accumulation. The primed finish should be overcoated with appropriate paint or finish to maintain long-term protection.

  • Not suitable for external applications or direct water immersion
  • Maintain good ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Overcoat with quality paint or finish for best protection
  • Wipe clean with damp cloth; avoid prolonged water contact

On-site handling and storage

Store the board flat in a dry, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Protect from moisture during storage and transport. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the primed surface and profiled edges. The 5.49m length requires adequate storage space and may require two operatives for safe handling and installation on vertical applications.

  • Store flat in dry, ventilated conditions
  • Protect from moisture during storage and transport
  • Handle with care to avoid damage to primed finish
  • Two operatives recommended for vertical installation work
