How and where to use guide
Hardwood Plywood 2440 x 1220 x 3.6mm B/BB Face Class 2 also known as WBP
Typical Applications
This plywood is purpose-built for high-quality internal joinery and cabinetry projects. The B/BB face grade and Eucalyptus core combination delivers the stability needed for fitted furniture, kitchen and bedroom cabinetry, shelving units, and internal panelling where appearance matters. The smooth face veneer accepts paint, stain, and veneer finishes directly without extensive surface preparation, making it ideal for bespoke joinery where a quality finish is expected.
- Cabinet carcasses and internal dividers
- Fitted shelving and storage systems
- Furniture components and drawer boxes
- Internal panelling and feature walls
- Joinery where paintable or veneerable surfaces are required
Stability and Storage
The Eucalyptus core actively resists twisting and warping, a key advantage over softwood alternatives. However, plywood remains moisture-sensitive. Store sheets flat in a dry, well-ventilated space away from direct sunlight and damp. Avoid standing sheets on edge or leaning them at angles, as this encourages cupping. Allow the material to acclimatise to your workshop environment for 24-48 hours before cutting and assembly, particularly if moving from cold storage to a heated space. This minimises movement after installation.
- Store flat on level supports, not on edge
- Keep in dry conditions; avoid damp workshops or exposed sites
- Allow acclimatisation time before cutting and assembly
- Protect from direct sunlight to prevent surface checking
Cutting, Finishing and Assembly
The 3.6mm thickness is manageable with standard workshop machinery. Use sharp blades and fine-toothed saws to minimise tear-out on the face veneer. The B/BB grade face is smooth and ready for finishing; sand lightly with 120-150 grit if needed before painting or applying veneer. Edges will show the plywood core and should be banded, veneered, or edge-sealed to prevent moisture ingress and improve appearance. Assemble using standard woodworking adhesives and mechanical fixings appropriate to your design. Pre-drill screw holes to avoid splitting the veneer.
- Use sharp, fine-toothed blades to minimise tear-out
- Sand face lightly before painting or veneering if required
- Band or veneer edges to seal the core and improve finish
- Pre-drill all screw holes to protect the face veneer
- Allow adhesives to cure fully before moving or loading assembled pieces
Limitations and Site Considerations
This is an interior-grade plywood (Class 2) and is not suitable for external use or wet environments. Do not use in kitchens, bathrooms, or areas subject to sustained moisture or condensation without additional protective sealing. The 3.6mm thickness is relatively thin and should be supported adequately in shelving and structural applications; span and load capacity depend on your design and support spacing. Not recommended for structural flooring or load-bearing applications without engineering input. Always check local building regulations for any specific requirements in your project.
- Interior use only; not suitable for external or wet environments
- Requires adequate support in shelving and cabinet applications
- Not suitable for structural flooring or load-bearing walls
- Protect from moisture and condensation with appropriate sealing if near wet areas
