How and where to use guide

Hardwood Plywood 2440 x 1220 x 5.5mm B/BB Face Class 2 also known as WBP

Typical Applications

This plywood is engineered for internal fit-out projects where structural integrity and finish quality are both essential. It performs exceptionally well in built-in cabinetry, kitchen and bedroom furniture carcasses, shelving systems, and joinery work where the panel will be visible or require a quality painted or veneered finish.

  • Cabinet carcasses and internal dividers
  • Fitted shelving and storage systems
  • Furniture construction and bespoke joinery
  • Interior panelling and feature walls
  • Backing boards for veneering projects

Installation and Preparation

Before use, allow the plywood to acclimatise to the site environment for 48 hours, particularly in heated or humid spaces, to minimise movement after installation. The smooth B/BB face finish requires minimal preparation for painting or veneering. When cutting, use a fine-toothed saw blade to preserve edge quality. Support the sheet adequately during cutting and handling to prevent sagging, which can compromise the stability benefits of the Eucalyptus core.

  • Acclimatise sheets on-site for 48 hours before use
  • Use fine-toothed blades for clean, splinter-free cuts
  • Support sheets fully during handling to prevent deflection
  • Sand lightly if required before painting or veneering

Stability and Performance

The Eucalyptus core actively resists twisting and warping, making this sheet particularly reliable for applications where dimensional stability is critical. This resistance to movement is especially valuable in fitted furniture and cabinetry where doors must hang true and shelves must remain flat under load. The WBP (Weather and Boil Proof) classification indicates moisture resistance suitable for internal environments with variable humidity.

  • Eucalyptus core resists warping and twisting
  • Maintains flatness under typical domestic and commercial loads
  • WBP rating provides moisture resistance for internal use
  • Ideal where precision fit and long-term stability are essential

Finishing and Maintenance

The high-grade B/BB face veneer provides an excellent base for both paint and veneer applications. For painted finishes, the smooth surface requires only light sanding and primer before topcoats. If veneering, the stable panel minimises the risk of veneer telegraphing or movement-related cracking. Once installed, maintain the plywood by protecting it from prolonged moisture exposure and ensuring adequate ventilation in fitted spaces to preserve the integrity of the finish.

  • Smooth face finish accepts paint and veneer without extensive preparation
  • Minimal sanding required before painting
  • Stable core prevents veneer telegraphing or cracking
  • Protect from prolonged moisture and ensure adequate ventilation
