How and where to use guide
Torus Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 148mm
Typical applications
This moisture-resistant MDF profile is ideal for use in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms, and other areas where humidity levels are elevated. It performs well as skirting board, dado rail, or decorative wall trim in domestic and light commercial interiors. The primed surface accepts standard emulsion or eggshell finishes without additional sealing.
- Kitchen and bathroom skirting boards
- Moisture-prone utility and laundry rooms
- Dado rails and wall panelling trim
- Decorative cornice and architrave work
- Feature wall detailing in residential properties
Installation and fixing
Measure and cut the profile to length using a fine-toothed saw or mitre saw for clean edges. Apply a suitable MDF adhesive or grab adhesive to the back face, then press firmly against the wall. For skirting boards, secure with panel pins or finish nails at 300-400mm centres, punching below the surface for a neat appearance. Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and reasonably flat before installation. Allow adhesive to cure fully before painting, typically 24 hours depending on product specification.
- Use fine-toothed saw to minimise edge chipping
- Apply adhesive to back face and fix with nails or screws
- Space fixings at 300-400mm intervals for stability
- Punch nail heads below surface and fill with MDF filler
- Allow full cure time before painting or finishing
Moisture resistance and maintenance
Whilst this profile is formulated with moisture-resistant properties, it is not suitable for direct water contact or external use. In bathrooms and kitchens, maintain good ventilation to minimise condensation and steam exposure. Wipe down any splashes promptly with a dry cloth. The primed finish provides a protective base coat; apply two coats of quality interior paint for optimal durability and moisture protection. Inspect periodically for any signs of swelling or damage, particularly in high-humidity areas.
- Not suitable for direct water contact or external exposure
- Maintain good ventilation in kitchens and bathrooms
- Wipe splashes immediately with a dry cloth
- Apply two coats of quality interior paint for best protection
- Check regularly for swelling or damage in humid rooms
On-site handling and storage
Store the profile flat or upright in a dry, well-ventilated area before installation. Avoid stacking heavy materials on top of the moulding, as MDF can compress under sustained pressure. Keep the product away from direct heat sources and damp conditions during storage. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the primed surface and torus profile detail. Allow the product to acclimatise to the room temperature and humidity for 24-48 hours before installation for best results.
- Store in dry, ventilated conditions away from damp
- Do not stack heavy items on top of the profile
- Keep away from direct heat sources and radiators
- Allow 24-48 hours acclimatisation before fitting
- Handle carefully to protect primed finish and profile edges
