How and where to use guide

2440 x 1220 x 9mm Caber MDF PRO MR MOISTURE RESISTANT FSC Mix 70%

Typical applications

This moisture-resistant MDF is best suited to interior environments subject to humidity fluctuations or splash risk. Common uses include kitchen and bathroom fitted furniture, base units, shelving systems, and wall panelling in damp-prone rooms. The smooth finish and machinability make it excellent for decorative work such as architraves, skirting boards and bespoke cabinetry where a painted or veneered surface is required.

  • Kitchen and bathroom cabinetry and fitted furniture
  • Shelving and storage systems in humid spaces
  • Decorative wall panelling and feature boards
  • Painted or veneered architectural elements
  • Interior partition systems and built-in joinery

Machining and finishing

The homogeneous fibre composition allows clean machining with standard woodworking tools. The smooth factory face minimises sanding requirements before finishing. The board accepts paint, stains, paper foils and veneers directly without specialist primers, though a standard undercoat is recommended for paint finishes. Always use sharp tooling and support the board adequately during cutting to prevent chipping at edges.

  • Machine with standard saws, routers and edge banders
  • Sand lightly if required; factory face is pre-finished
  • Paint directly with standard primers and topcoats
  • Apply veneers and paper foils using contact adhesive or PVA
  • Use sharp blades and adequate support during crosscutting

Moisture resistance and limitations

This board is moisture-resistant and tolerates humidity and occasional splash better than standard MDF, making it suitable for kitchens and bathrooms. However, it is not waterproof and must not be used in fully wet environments, external applications, or areas of prolonged water immersion. Ensure adequate ventilation on site to manage humidity, and avoid direct contact with standing water. The board complies with BS EN 622 Parts 1 and 5 and meets E1 emission standards.

  • Suitable for humid interiors; not for external use or wet areas
  • Avoid prolonged water contact or submersion
  • Maintain good site ventilation to prevent moisture accumulation
  • Store flat and dry before installation
  • Not recommended for shower enclosures or constantly wet environments

On-site handling and storage

Store the board flat in a dry, well-ventilated space away from direct weather exposure. Allow the material to acclimatise to site humidity for 24 to 48 hours before installation. Handle carefully to avoid edge damage during transport and installation. The 9mm thickness is suitable for cabinet backs, shelf supports and internal panelling; ensure adequate structural support for load-bearing applications. FSC certification confirms responsible forestry sourcing.

  • Store flat and dry; allow 24-48 hours acclimatisation on site
  • Protect edges during handling to prevent chipping
  • Support adequately during installation to prevent sagging
  • Use appropriate fixings for the application and load
  • FSC Mix 70% certified sustainable sourcing
