How and where to use guide

3.9Mtr x 32mm x 150mm (27x144) PAR Door Lining Premium Redwood

Typical applications

This door lining is primarily used to frame internal doorways in domestic properties and commercial interiors. The 150mm width accommodates standard partition wall thicknesses, whilst the substantial 32mm thickness provides structural integrity and a professional finish. It is commonly used in new build construction, refurbishment projects, and renovation work where quality internal finishes are required.

  • Internal doorway frames in residential properties
  • Commercial and office interior door installations
  • Renovation and refurbishment projects
  • Situations where a premium appearance is specified

Installation and usage

The lining should be cut to length on site to suit your specific doorway height. Measure the opening carefully and account for floor finishes. The PAR finish means the timber arrives ready to use without planing, though you may wish to sand lightly before decoration. Fix the lining securely to the wall structure using appropriate fixings (typically nails or screws into the wall studs or masonry), ensuring it is plumb and square before final fixing. The 3.9 metre length typically provides sufficient material for one standard doorway with minimal waste.

  • Measure doorway opening height accurately, accounting for finished floor level
  • Cut to length using a fine-toothed saw for clean edges
  • Check for plumb and square before securing permanently
  • Use appropriate fixings for your wall type (timber stud or masonry)
  • Sand lightly if required before painting or staining

Material characteristics and limitations

Premium redwood is a softwood that machines and finishes well, but it is not suitable for external use or areas of high moisture. It will move slightly with humidity changes, which is normal for natural timber. Avoid installation in bathrooms, kitchens, or other wet areas unless fully sealed. The timber should be stored flat and protected from weather on site. Check each piece for defects before installation, as PAR timber is graded for appearance but minor surface variations are acceptable in premium grades.

  • Internal use only; not suitable for external applications
  • Avoid high-moisture environments such as bathrooms without protective sealing
  • Natural timber movement may occur with seasonal humidity changes
  • Store flat and protected from weather prior to installation
  • Minor surface variations are normal in premium redwood

Finishing and maintenance

The PAR surface accepts paint, stain, and varnish finishes readily. For painted finishes, apply a suitable primer before topcoats. For natural finishes, use quality wood stain or clear varnish to enhance the redwood colour and protect the surface. Once installed and finished, maintenance is minimal; occasional dusting and cleaning with a soft cloth will preserve the appearance. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight for extended periods, as this may cause colour fading over time.

  • Prime before painting to ensure even coverage and durability
  • Use quality wood stain or varnish for natural finishes
  • Dust regularly with a soft cloth to maintain appearance
  • Protect from prolonged direct sunlight to minimise colour fade
