Fixing and buying guide
4.2Mtr x 32mm x 138mm (27x132) PAR Door Lining Premium Redwood
What you need and compatibility
This door lining is designed for internal doorway applications where you need to frame the opening and provide a finished edge between the door frame and the surrounding wall. The 4.2 metre length is typically sufficient for one standard doorway (two vertical sides plus one horizontal head piece, with some waste allowance). Check your doorway dimensions before ordering to confirm you have adequate length. The PAR finish means the timber arrives planed smooth on all four sides, ready for immediate use or finishing.
- Suitable for internal doorways in domestic and light commercial buildings
- PAR (planed all round) finish — ready to use or decorate
- Premium redwood grade offers superior appearance and stability
- Standard 32mm x 138mm profile fits most door frame installations
Measuring and preparing
Before installation, measure your doorway opening carefully. You will typically need two vertical pieces (the full height of the opening) and one horizontal head piece (the full width). Allow for the thickness of your door frame and any plasterboard or wall finish. Check that the timber is straight and free from significant knots or defects. Store the lining flat in a dry location for at least 48 hours before fixing to allow it to acclimatise to your building's moisture conditions. This helps prevent movement and warping after installation.
- Measure doorway height and width accurately, accounting for frame thickness
- Inspect timber for straightness and defects before fixing
- Allow 48 hours acclimatisation in the room where it will be installed
- Store flat and dry to prevent cupping or twisting
Fixing and finishing
Door lining is typically fixed to the door frame using lost-head nails, screws, or adhesive, depending on your frame type and preference. Ensure the lining is square and level before final fixing. Once installed, fill any nail holes or gaps with appropriate wood filler. The smooth PAR surface accepts paint, stain, or varnish finishes. Sand lightly with fine-grit paper before applying your chosen finish to ensure good adhesion and a professional appearance.
- Fix using lost-head nails, screws, or construction adhesive
