How and where to use guide
4.2Mtr x 32mm x 138mm (27x132) PAR Door Lining Premium Redwood
Typical applications
This door lining is suitable for framing internal doorways in residential and light commercial properties. It is commonly used in new build construction, renovations, and refurbishment work where a finished, decorative door frame is needed. The premium grade ensures consistent quality and appearance for visible installations.
- Internal doorway frames in houses and flats
- Refurbishment and renovation projects
- New build residential construction
- Decorative door surrounds where appearance matters
Installation and fitting
Door lining should be installed plumb and square to the wall opening. Measure your doorway opening carefully and cut the lining to length, accounting for the floor level and any threshold. The 32mm thickness provides good structural support when properly fixed. Secure the lining using appropriate fixings (typically nails or screws) into the wall studs or masonry, ensuring it remains square throughout installation. Allow adequate clearance for the door leaf and hinges as per your door manufacturer's specifications.
- Measure doorway opening height and width accurately
- Cut vertical and horizontal pieces to length
- Check for plumb and square before final fixing
- Use appropriate fixings for your wall type (timber frame or masonry)
- Ensure consistent clearance for door operation
Material properties and limitations
Premium Redwood is a softwood that offers good workability and an attractive natural finish. Being PAR (planed all round), it arrives ready to use with smooth surfaces. However, softwood is not suitable for external use or areas subject to moisture, dampness, or direct water contact. The material may move slightly with changes in humidity, which is normal for timber. It is not recommended for wet areas such as bathrooms or kitchens without additional protection.
- Internal use only — not suitable for external applications
- Avoid areas of high moisture or direct water contact
- Softwood requires protection in damp environments
- Minor movement with humidity changes is normal
- Not suitable for bathrooms or kitchens without additional treatment
Finishing and maintenance
Premium Redwood can be finished with paint, stain, or varnish to suit your décor. Sand lightly before applying any finish to ensure good adhesion. Once installed and finished, maintain the lining by keeping it clean and dry. Inspect periodically for any signs of damage or movement, particularly around fixing points. Avoid exposing the lining to prolonged moisture or direct heat sources.
- Sand surfaces before painting or staining
- Apply appropriate primer and finish coats
- Keep clean and dry during and after installation
- Check fixings and plumb regularly after installation
- Avoid exposure to moisture and direct heat
