How and where to use guide
Rockwool NyRock® Cavity Slab 032 100mm x 455mm x 1200mm (4 Pieces Per Pack) - 2.18M Sq
Typical applications
NyRock Cavity Slab 032 is intended for insulating masonry cavity walls during new build construction or cavity wall refurbishment. The 100mm thickness suits standard cavity widths in modern building practice. It is suitable for use in residential properties, commercial buildings, and structures where improved thermal performance is required to meet current Building Regulations.
- New build cavity wall construction
- Cavity wall refurbishment and upgrading
- Residential and commercial applications
- Properties requiring enhanced thermal insulation
Installation and fitting
The slabs are designed for friction fitting, which means they are held in place by pressure against the blockwork without requiring mechanical fixings or adhesive. This method minimises installation gaps and ensures accurate positioning. The lightweight nature of the slabs allows a single operative to handle and position them safely. Install the slabs vertically within the cavity, working from bottom to top, ensuring each slab sits firmly against the inner leaf blockwork. The friction fit design reduces the need for precise cutting on site, saving time and labour.
- Position slabs vertically within the cavity
- Press firmly against blockwork to create friction fit
- Work from bottom to top of wall
- Minimise gaps between adjacent slabs
- No cutting required in most standard applications
Fire safety and performance
NyRock Cavity Slab 032 achieves Euroclass A1 classification in accordance with BS EN 13501-1, indicating excellent reaction to fire performance. This rating means the product contributes minimally to fire spread and smoke development, making it suitable for use in buildings where fire safety compliance is essential. The stone wool composition is non-combustible and will not support flame propagation.
- Euroclass A1 fire rating
- Complies with BS EN 13501-1
- Non-combustible stone wool material
- Suitable for fire-sensitive applications
On-site handling and storage
Store the product in a dry location prior to installation to maintain performance. The lightweight slabs are easy to transport and handle on site, reducing labour demands during installation. Protect the material from prolonged exposure to moisture during storage and installation. Once installed within the cavity, the slabs will be protected from weather and moisture by the outer leaf of the cavity wall. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves and a dust mask when handling stone wool to minimise irritation from fibres.
- Store in dry conditions before use
- Protect from rain and moisture during installation
- Wear gloves and dust mask when handling
- Easy to transport due to lightweight construction
