Premdor 5 Panel Smooth FD30 Firesheild 762mm x 1981mm x44mm

What this door is and who needs it

This is an internal fire-rated door leaf manufactured by Premdor to FD30 standard, meaning it will resist fire for up to 30 minutes. FD30 doors are required by Building Regulations in certain locations within properties, particularly in escape routes, between dwellings in flats, and in other fire safety critical areas. The five-panel design offers a classic aesthetic while the smooth finish allows you to paint or stain to match your interior. This door is not suitable for external use.

Sizing and compatibility

This door measures 762mm wide by 1981mm tall by 44mm thick. The 762mm width is a standard single door size suitable for most interior openings. Before purchasing, measure your existing door opening or frame to confirm compatibility. You will need to check that your frame is suitable for a 44mm thick door and that the opening height and width accommodate these dimensions with appropriate clearances for hinges and closing mechanisms. If your opening differs significantly, you may need a bespoke door or frame adjustment.

  • Width: 762mm (standard single door)
  • Height: 1981mm (standard internal height)
  • Thickness: 44mm (fire-rated construction)
  • Measure your frame before ordering to avoid fitting issues

What comes with the door and pre-installation checks

You receive one door leaf only. The door arrives pre-finished with a smooth surface but without hinges, handles, locks, or frame included. Before installation, inspect the door for any damage in transit and allow it to acclimatise to room temperature and humidity for at least 48 hours. Check that your existing frame is square, level, and in good condition. Confirm that your frame is designed to accept a 44mm thick door and that you have suitable fire-rated hinges and hardware rated for FD30 use. Do not install this door into a non-fire-rated frame if fire compliance is required.

  • Door leaf only; frame, hinges, and hardware sold separately
  • Smooth pre-finished surface ready for painting or staining
  • Allow 48 hours acclimatisation before fitting
  • Inspect for transit damage upon delivery
  • Ensure frame and all hardware are FD30 compatible

Fixing and installation

Installation of a fire-rated door must be carried out carefully to maintain fire performance. The door should be hung using fire-rated hinges and fitted into a fire-rated frame with appropriate seals and closers where required. Gaps around the door must be minimised and sealed appropriately. If you are unsure about fire safety requirements or installation standards, consult Building Regulations guidance or engage a qualified installer. Improper installation may compromise the fire rating and your legal compliance.
