Fixing and buying guide

Jedo 3 Lever Sashlock Satin Chrome 76mm

What this lock is and who needs it

A sashlock is a mortice lock that combines a latch and deadbolt in a single unit, making it ideal for doors that need both everyday convenience and security. The 3-lever mechanism means the deadbolt can only be operated by key, providing theft protection without the complexity of higher-security locks. This Jedo model is suitable for internal doors, external residential doors, and light commercial applications where standard security is acceptable. It is not recommended for high-security applications or doors requiring insurance-grade locks.

  • Combines latch and deadbolt in one unit
  • 3-lever deadbolt mechanism
  • Suitable for residential and commercial use
  • Satin chrome finish for contemporary appearance

Sizing and compatibility

This lock is 76mm in size, which refers to the distance between the centre of the spindle hole and the centre of the keyhole. Before purchasing, measure your door to confirm it will accommodate a 76mm mortice lock. The lock is designed for timber doors of standard thickness, typically 35mm to 45mm. Check that your door has sufficient depth to house the mortice body and that there is adequate space around the proposed lock position for the latch and bolt mechanisms to operate freely without obstruction from door furniture or frame.

  • 76mm size: measure centre-to-centre distance from spindle to keyhole
  • Suitable for timber doors 35mm to 45mm thick
  • Requires mortice cut into door edge
  • Confirm adequate clearance from frame and adjacent hardware

Pack contents and pre-installation checks

The Jedo 3 Lever Sashlock comes complete with the mortice lock body, strike plate, and fixing screws. Before installation, inspect all components for damage in transit. Ensure you have the correct tools: a mortice chisel set, saw, drill, and screwdrivers. Test the lock mechanism by operating the latch and deadbolt by hand to confirm smooth movement. Verify that the door is sound, free from warping, and that the proposed installation location does not coincide with existing damage or weak timber.

  • Includes mortice body, strike plate, and fixings
  • Inspect for transit damage before fitting
  • Test latch and deadbolt operation before morticing
  • Ensure door timber is sound and not warped

Installation overview

Installation requires morticing the lock body into the door edge and fitting the strike plate to the frame. Mark the lock position carefully, ensuring it aligns with the existing spindle hole if replacing an old lock, or at a suitable height (typically 1000mm to 1100mm from the floor) for new installations. Chisel out the mortice to the exact dimensions of the lock body, then slide the lock in and secure with the provided screws. Fit the strike plate to the frame, ensuring the latch and bolt align correctly when the door closes. The satin chrome finish requires no special treatment but should be kept clean and dry to maintain appearance.

  • Mark position at 1000mm to 1100mm height for standard doors
  • Mortice must match lock body dimensions precisely
  • Secure lock body with provided screws
  • Align strike plate so latch and bolt engage smoothly
