How and where to use guide
Jedo 3 Lever Sashlock Satin Chrome 76mm
Typical applications
This sashlock is primarily used in timber sash windows, where it secures the meeting rails of upper and lower sashes. It is also suitable for timber doors and other joinery applications requiring a mortice-mounted lock. The 76mm size refers to the distance between the centre of the keyhole and the centre of the bolt, making it compatible with standard sash window preparations. The satin chrome finish makes it appropriate for both period properties and modern residential or commercial interiors where aesthetic appeal matters alongside security.
- Timber sash windows (upper and lower sashes)
- Timber doors and frames
- Residential and commercial properties
- Applications where traditional locking mechanisms are preferred
Installation and fitting
The lock must be morticed into the edge of the window sash or door stile. Ensure the timber is sound and free from rot or damage before fitting. The 76mm measurement should be marked accurately on the frame edge to position the lock body correctly. Drill and chisel out the mortice to accommodate the lock case, then secure it firmly using the provided screws. The keyhole and bolt positions must align precisely with the striking plate on the corresponding frame or sash. Test the operation before final tightening to ensure smooth key turning and bolt engagement.
- Mark the 76mm position accurately on the timber edge
- Mortice out the lock body cavity carefully
- Secure the lock case with all provided fixings
- Fit the striking plate on the corresponding frame
- Test smooth operation before completing installation
Operation and maintenance
The 3-lever mechanism is operated by turning the key, which extends and retracts the bolt smoothly. Keep the keyhole clear of debris and avoid forcing the key if resistance is felt. Periodically apply a small amount of graphite powder or silicone-based lubricant to the keyhole and bolt mechanism to maintain smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants as these attract dust and can cause sticking. Check that the bolt engages fully with the striking plate and that the lock does not rattle when closed. If the key becomes difficult to turn, do not force it; instead, clean the mechanism and apply lubricant.
- Keep the keyhole free from dirt and debris
- Use graphite powder or silicone lubricant for maintenance
- Avoid oil-based lubricants
- Ensure the bolt engages fully with the striking plate
- Do not force a stiff key; clean and lubricate instead
Limitations and on-site tips
This lock is designed for timber applications only and should not be fitted to metal or composite frames without appropriate adapters. The satin chrome finish is durable but should be protected from harsh chemical cleaners during installation and maintenance. Ensure the timber is adequately prepared and that the mortice is cut to the correct depth to avoid damaging the lock case. On busy commercial sites, keep spare keys secure and consider labelling keys clearly to prevent loss. The lock is not suitable for applications requiring electronic or smart locking functionality.
- Timber-only application; not suitable for metal frames without adapters
- Protect the satin chrome finish from harsh chemicals
- Cut the mortice to the correct depth to avoid damage
- Store spare keys securely on site
- Not suitable for electronic or smart locking requirements
