Fixing and buying guide

4.8Mtr x 32mm x 150mm (27x144) PAR Door Lining Premium Redwood

What you are buying

You are purchasing a single length of 4.8 metres of PAR door lining in premium redwood. The timber is planed all round to a finished size of 32mm thick by 150mm wide. The 27x144 profile is a traditional door lining section with a rebate to receive the door leaf and a decorative edge detail. This length is typically sufficient for one standard doorway (head and two sides), though you may need to account for waste and mitring at corners.

  • Length: 4.8 metres
  • Thickness: 32mm
  • Width: 150mm
  • Profile: 27x144 (rebated)
  • Material: Premium redwood
  • Finish: PAR (planed all round)

Compatibility and sizing

This lining is designed for standard internal doorways in domestic and light commercial buildings. The 150mm width is suitable for typical stud partition walls (around 100mm blockwork or timber frame) with plasterboard finish on both sides. The rebate profile is compatible with standard internal door leaves. Measure your doorway opening height and width before ordering to confirm you have sufficient length; most standard doorways require approximately 2.4m for the head plus 2.1m for each side, totalling around 6.6m, so you may need additional lengths for larger openings or if mitring corners.

  • Suitable for standard internal doorways
  • Works with typical stud partition and blockwork walls
  • Compatible with standard internal door leaves
  • Check your opening dimensions before purchase

Pre-installation checks

Before fixing, inspect the timber for any damage, warping, or defects. Store the lining flat in a dry environment for at least 48 hours to allow it to acclimatise to site conditions and prevent movement after installation. Check that your doorway opening is square and plumb using a spirit level; any significant deviation will affect the fit of the door. Ensure the wall surface is clean and free from debris where the lining will be fixed. Confirm that plasterboard or other wall finishes are in place or account for their thickness when positioning the lining.

  • Inspect for damage or warping
  • Allow 48 hours acclimatisation in dry storage
  • Check doorway is square and plumb
  • Ensure wall surface is clean and prepared
  • Account for plasterboard or finish thickness

Fixing and installation

Door lining is typically fixed using timber screws or nails into the studs or masonry of the wall frame. Position the lining so the rebate faces the correct direction to receive the door leaf, and ensure it is square and plumb before final fixing. The lining should be set back slightly from the finished wall surface to allow for plasterboard and decoration. Use shims or packing pieces to maintain alignment while fixing. Once installed, the lining can be decorated with paint or stain to match your interior finish.

  • Fix with timber screws or nails into wall frame
  • Ensure rebate faces correct direction
  • Check square and plumb before final fixing
  • Set back for plasterboard finish
  • Use shims to maintain alignment
