How and where to use guide
4.8Mtr x 32mm x 150mm (27x144) PAR Door Lining Premium Redwood
Typical applications
Premium redwood door linings are used to frame internal doorways in residential and light commercial properties. The finished appearance makes them suitable for visible installations where decoration or staining is planned. They work well in period properties and contemporary builds where natural timber aesthetics are desired.
- Internal doorway frames in houses, flats and small commercial spaces
- Renovation and refurbishment projects where quality finish is visible
- Applications where timber will be painted, stained or left natural
- Standard UK door opening sizes (typically 775mm to 900mm wide)
Installation and fitting
Door linings must be installed plumb and square to ensure doors hang correctly. Measure your opening carefully before cutting; the 4.8 metre length typically provides enough material for one complete doorway frame with minimal waste. Use appropriate fixings (screws or nails) to secure the lining to the surrounding wall structure, ensuring the frame is braced during installation to maintain squareness. Allow the timber to acclimatise to site conditions for 48 hours before final fitting if possible.
- Measure opening height and width accurately; allow for plasterboard or wall thickness
- Cut mitres or joints as required for your frame design
- Install with temporary bracing to maintain square during fixing
- Use corrosion-resistant fixings appropriate to wall type (masonry, timber stud)
- Check plumb and level before final tightening
Limitations and site conditions
PAR redwood is a natural material and will move slightly with changes in moisture content. Avoid prolonged exposure to damp conditions on site, and store flat in a dry location. This product is for internal use only; it is not suitable for external applications or areas subject to persistent moisture. The premium grade minimises defects but natural variation in timber colour should be expected.
- Internal use only; not suitable for external doorways or wet areas
- Store flat and dry on site to prevent cupping or warping
- Protect from rain and excessive moisture during construction
- Natural colour variation is normal in premium redwood
- Not recommended for areas with high humidity or direct water exposure
Finishing and maintenance
Once installed, PAR redwood door linings can be painted, stained or sealed according to your specification. Sand lightly if required before decoration. For longevity, apply a protective finish that suits your interior design scheme. Maintain the finish periodically to protect the timber from dust and minor marks.
- Sand lightly with fine abrasive before painting or staining if desired
- Apply primer and paint, or wood stain and varnish as specified
- Wipe clean regularly to maintain appearance
- Touch up paint or finish as needed to protect timber from wear
