How and where to use guide

LPD White DX 30S Style 1981 x 762 x 44mm (30")

Typical applications and installation

This door is designed exclusively for internal use within domestic properties. It is suitable for standard doorways throughout the home, including bedrooms, living areas, and utility spaces. The 30-inch width (762mm) is a common UK internal door size. Before installation, check your opening dimensions carefully. The door can be trimmed to fit, but you must ensure the opening is square and plumb. Hang the door using three hinges for stability, and fit appropriate hardware such as handles, locks, and latches to suit your décor. Allow the primed surface to be sanded lightly before applying your chosen finish to ensure good paint or stain adhesion.

  • Internal use only – not suitable for external doors or exposed areas
  • Can be trimmed on site to fit non-standard openings
  • Requires hanging with three hinges for proper support
  • Primed finish requires a top coat of paint or stain before use

Finishing and preparation

The door arrives primed, which means it has received a base coat to seal the solid engineered core and prepare the surface for decoration. Before hanging, inspect the door for any damage in transit. Once installed, lightly sand the primed surface with fine-grit sandpaper to key the finish and remove any dust or imperfections. Apply your chosen top coat – either paint or stain – following the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure adequate ventilation during finishing, and allow sufficient drying time between coats. Pay particular attention to the inset panels and edges, as these areas require even coverage for a professional appearance.

  • Sand lightly with fine-grit paper before applying top coat
  • Apply paint or stain in well-ventilated conditions
  • Allow adequate drying time between coats
  • Protect inset panels and edges with careful brush work

Strength, durability, and maintenance

The solid engineered core provides excellent strength and dimensional stability, resisting warping and twisting over time. This construction method also makes the door more durable than hollow-core alternatives, particularly in areas of high traffic or temperature fluctuation. The door is manufactured using environmentally friendly timber, making it a responsible choice for sustainable building projects. To maintain the door in good condition, wipe down the painted or stained surface regularly with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid excessive moisture exposure, as this is an internal door. Check hinges and hardware periodically to ensure they remain tight and functioning smoothly.

  • More durable than hollow-core doors for long-term use

On-site trimming and fitting tips

If your opening is slightly smaller than the door's supplied dimensions, the door can be trimmed to fit. Measure your opening carefully in multiple places to account for any irregularities. Mark the trim line clearly on the door, and use a sharp handsaw or circular saw to remove material from the hinge edge or closing edge as required. Work carefully to maintain a straight cut, and sand the trimmed edge smooth before hanging. Do not trim more than 10mm from any edge, as excessive trimming may compromise the door's structural integrity and the effectiveness of the engineered core. Always trim before priming or finishing any exposed edges.

  • Measure opening carefully in multiple locations
  • Trim from hinge edge or closing edge as needed
  • Do not trim more than 10mm from any edge
  • Sand trimmed edges smooth and apply primer before top coat
