How and where to use guide

2040X726X40MM OAK DX 30s STYLE Door

Typical applications and suitability

This door is intended for internal use in residential properties, particularly where period renovation or heritage-style decoration is the design goal. The distinctive 30s panel configuration with three inset rectangular panels below a square panel makes it ideal for period properties, character conversions, or new builds designed to complement traditional architecture. The 726mm width suits standard UK doorway openings and the 40mm thickness provides adequate mass for sound insulation between rooms.

  • Internal room-to-room applications only
  • Period properties and heritage-style interiors
  • Domestic residential installations
  • Standard UK doorway openings (726mm width)
  • Not suitable for external or high-moisture environments

Installation and preparation

Before hanging, inspect the door for any damage and check that your frame opening is square and true. The door arrives unfinished, so you must sand and finish it on-site. Lightly sand the white oak surface with medium-grit sandpaper to remove any surface dust and prepare for staining or sealing. The solid engineered core resists movement, but allow the door to acclimatise to your interior environment for 48 hours before final fitting. Ensure hinges are correctly positioned and use appropriate screws for the timber thickness.

  • Allow 48-hour acclimatisation to interior conditions
  • Sand lightly with medium-grit paper before finishing
  • Check frame opening is square and plumb
  • Use quality hinges rated for the door weight
  • Finish with appropriate wood stain or seal before hanging

Finishing and maintenance

The unfinished white oak requires protection from moisture and wear. Apply a quality wood stain to achieve your desired colour, followed by a protective clear coat such as polyurethane or lacquer to seal the timber. This protects against marking, moisture absorption, and UV fading. Once finished and hung, maintain the door by wiping with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid excessive moisture exposure and do not use harsh cleaning products that may damage the finish.

  • Apply wood stain and protective clear coat before use
  • Polyurethane or lacquer finishes recommended
  • Wipe clean with soft, dry cloth only
  • Avoid prolonged moisture exposure
  • Check hinges periodically and tighten if needed

Limitations and on-site considerations

This door is for internal use only and must not be exposed to external weather or high-humidity environments such as bathrooms without appropriate ventilation. The unfinished state means it requires skilled preparation and finishing on-site, which should be factored into project timescales. The engineered core is stable but the door should be stored flat and protected from damage during transport and on-site handling. Do not force the door into a frame that is not properly prepared, as this may cause binding or panel stress.

  • Internal use only, not weather-resistant
  • Requires on-site sanding and finishing
  • Store flat and protect from site damage
  • Not suitable for high-moisture areas without ventilation
  • Ensure frame is properly prepared before installation
