PREMDOR 4 PANEL MOULDED SMOOTH STANDARD CORE 686MM X 1981MM X 35MM

Typical applications and installation

This door is designed for internal use in domestic properties, flats, and light commercial spaces such as offices or retail environments. It is suitable for standard doorways with typical frame widths around 686mm. The door should be hung using three hinges on a properly prepared and level frame. Ensure the frame is square and plumb before installation, as this affects door operation and paint finish quality. The door can be fitted to either left or right hand opening depending on your requirements. Allow adequate clearance at the bottom for floor coverings and ensure the door swings freely without binding on the frame.

  • Internal use only - not suitable for external applications or wet environments
  • Fits standard UK doorway openings of approximately 686mm width
  • Requires three hinges for secure hanging
  • Compatible with standard mortice locks and latches
  • Suitable for residential hallways, bedrooms, bathrooms, and commercial office spaces

On-site finishing and painting

The white base coat provides a neutral starting point for your chosen finish. Before painting, inspect the door for any damage or dust and lightly sand the smooth faces with fine-grit sandpaper to improve paint adhesion. Fill any minor imperfections with suitable wood filler and sand smooth when dry. Apply a primer if changing to a dark colour or if using water-based paints over the existing base coat. Two coats of quality interior paint are recommended for even coverage and durability. Pay particular attention to the moulded panel edges and recesses to ensure complete coverage. Allow adequate drying time between coats as specified by your paint manufacturer.

  • Light sanding with fine-grit paper improves paint adhesion
  • Use wood filler for any surface imperfections before painting
  • Apply primer when using dark colours or water-based paints
  • Two coats of interior paint recommended for best finish
  • Smooth faces allow for high-quality paint finish without grain showing through

Maintenance and care

The smooth moulded faces are easy to clean and maintain once painted. Wipe down with a damp cloth and mild detergent to remove dust and marks. Avoid excessive moisture exposure as the door is not suitable for wet areas such as bathrooms with poor ventilation or kitchens with high steam levels. Inspect hinges periodically and tighten fixings if the door begins to sag or stick. Touch up any paint damage promptly to prevent moisture ingress into the core material. The standard core construction is durable for normal domestic use but should not be subjected to impact damage or rough handling.

  • Clean with damp cloth and mild detergent only
  • Not suitable for high-moisture areas without proper ventilation
  • Check and tighten hinges regularly to prevent sagging
  • Touch up paint damage immediately to protect the core
  • Avoid impact damage and rough handling during and after installation

On-site storage and handling

Store the door flat on a level surface in a dry, well-ventilated area before installation. Protect it from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations which can cause warping. Keep the door away from damp conditions and building site water splash. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the moulded faces and edges, particularly the panel details which define the door's appearance. Do not lean heavy materials against the door or use it as a work surface. Transport the door upright or flat depending on site conditions, but ensure it remains protected from weather and site debris.

  • Store flat on level surface in dry conditions
  • Protect from direct sunlight and temperature extremes
  • Keep away from damp and water splash during storage
  • Handle carefully to avoid damage to moulded panel details
  • Do not use as a work surface or lean materials against it
