PREMDOR 6 PANEL MOULDED SMOOTH STANDARD CORE 610MM X 1981MM X 35MM

Typical applications and installation

This 610mm x 1981mm door is designed for standard internal openings in domestic properties and light commercial settings. The door suits period-style interiors, contemporary spaces seeking traditional detailing, and renovation projects where period-appropriate joinery is preferred. Installation follows standard internal door hanging procedures: the door should be hung using three quality hinges (typically 75mm or 100mm brass or steel hinges) into a prepared timber or composite frame. Ensure the frame is square and plumb before hanging, and allow a 2-3mm clearance around the door edges for smooth operation. The 35mm thickness provides adequate rigidity for standard internal use without excessive weight.

  • Suitable for bedrooms, living areas, hallways and internal partition walls
  • Compatible with standard 610mm wide door frames and typical ceiling heights around 1981mm
  • Works with traditional and contemporary interior design schemes
  • Ideal for properties where period features or panelled doors are preferred

On-site finishing and painting

The white base coat provides an excellent primer surface for on-site decoration. Before painting, inspect the door for any dust or debris from handling and storage, and lightly sand the smooth moulded faces with fine-grit sandpaper (180-220 grit) to improve paint adhesion. Fill any minor imperfections with a suitable wood filler if required. Apply two coats of quality interior paint (emulsion, eggshell or satin finish) using a brush or roller, allowing proper drying time between coats as per paint manufacturer instructions. The smooth faces ensure an even, professional finish without the grain telegraphing through the paint.

  • Light sand the white base coat before painting for best adhesion
  • Use quality interior paint suitable for timber doors
  • Apply minimum two coats for uniform colour coverage
  • Allow adequate drying time between coats

Maintenance and care

Once painted and installed, maintain the door through regular cleaning with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and marks. Avoid excessive moisture exposure, particularly around the bottom edge and frame junction, as this can cause swelling or paint failure. Check hinges periodically and tighten any loose screws to ensure smooth operation. If the painted surface becomes marked or scuffed, minor touch-ups can be made with leftover paint; for more significant damage, light sanding and repainting of the affected area may be necessary. The standard core construction is not suitable for external exposure or high-moisture environments such as bathrooms without additional protective measures.

  • Clean regularly with a soft, damp cloth
  • Keep away from direct water spray or high humidity
  • Check and tighten hinges periodically
  • Avoid exposure to external weather or prolonged moisture

Limitations and on-site tips

This door is designed for internal use only and should not be exposed to external weather conditions or high-moisture environments without additional protection. The standard core provides moderate acoustic performance but is not a fire-rated door; if fire safety certification is required, alternative products should be specified. Store the door flat or vertically in a dry environment before installation to prevent warping. Handle carefully during delivery and on-site to avoid damage to the moulded faces and edges. The smooth finish, whilst excellent for painting, means the door will show fingerprints and marks more readily than textured alternatives until painted.

  • Internal use only; not suitable for external doors or high-moisture areas
  • Not fire-rated; check building regulations for your application
  • Store flat or upright in dry conditions before hanging
  • Handle carefully to protect moulded detailing during transport and installation
