PREMDOR 6 PANEL MOULDED TEXTURED FD30 FIRESHIELD 686MM X 1981MM X 44MM

Typical applications and installation

This FD30 fire-rated door is designed for internal use in buildings where fire safety regulations demand a 30-minute fire resistance rating. Common applications include commercial office buildings, hotels, care facilities, and residential multi-unit developments. The door is supplied pre-hung in a frame and ready for installation into prepared openings. Ensure the frame is plumb, level and square before fixing. The door must be hung using three hinges minimum and fitted with appropriate fire-rated hardware including self-closing devices and intumescent seals as required by building regulations. Installation should follow manufacturer instructions and local building control requirements.

  • Suitable for internal doorways in commercial and residential buildings requiring FD30 fire rating
  • Pre-finished with white base coat for immediate use or on-site painting
  • Compatible with standard door frames and fire-rated hardware
  • Requires proper installation with fire-rated hinges, closers and seals to maintain fire rating

On-site finishing and painting

The door arrives with a smooth white base coat that provides an excellent foundation for on-site decoration. The textured moulded panel faces are designed to accept paint, stain or other finishes. Before painting, inspect the surface for any dust or debris and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Allow to dry fully. Apply primer if changing colour significantly from the white base coat, then apply two coats of quality interior paint suitable for timber doors. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and drying. The textured surface will enhance the visual depth of your chosen finish.

  • White base coat allows flexibility for on-site colour matching and branding
  • Textured moulded faces accept paint, stain and other interior finishes
  • Clean surface before painting to ensure good adhesion
  • Use quality interior paint and allow proper drying time between coats

Fire safety and maintenance

The FD30 Fireshield rating is integral to the door construction and must be preserved through correct installation and maintenance. Do not drill additional holes, cut the door, or remove intumescent seals as this will compromise the fire rating. Regularly inspect hinges, closers and seals for damage or wear. Keep the door and frame clean and free from obstructions. In the event of damage to the door surface, small marks can be touched up with matching paint, but structural damage or seal failure requires professional assessment before continued use. The self-closing mechanism should be tested periodically to ensure it functions smoothly.

  • Fire rating depends on correct installation with fire-rated hardware and seals
  • Do not modify, drill or cut the door as this voids the fire rating
  • Inspect seals and closers regularly for damage or deterioration
  • Touch up paint damage promptly to protect the timber from moisture ingress

Limitations and storage

This is an internal door only and must not be exposed to external weather or moisture. Store in a dry, well-ventilated space before installation, keeping the door flat or upright but never leaning at an angle, which can cause warping. Protect from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations during storage. The door is designed for standard interior applications and should not be used in high-moisture environments such as bathrooms or kitchens without additional protective finishes. Glazed options are available separately if vision panels are required; these must be fitted with fire-rated glass and beading to maintain the FD30 rating.

  • Internal use only; not suitable for external exposure or high-moisture areas
  • Store flat or upright in dry conditions before installation
  • Protect from direct sunlight and temperature extremes during storage
  • Glazed options available separately with fire-rated glass for vision requirements
