Fixing and buying guide
A601006 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (12g) 6mm X 100mm - 100
What makes this screw different
This screw features a state-of-the-art PoziSquare recess with anti-camout technology, ensuring stick-fit accuracy and stable driving without bit slip. The reinforced double angle head is self-countersunking, reducing the need for pre-drilling in many applications, and provides resistance to screw breakage under load. A quick start point allows rapid starting with minimum force, whilst the slotted shank reduces wood splitting during installation. Zinc yellow plating provides corrosion resistance suitable for both interior and exterior use.
- PoziSquare recess compatible with both PH and PZ drivers for flexibility on site
- Self-centering design minimises bit camout and ensures consistent seating
- No ribs on smaller sizes make these ideal for use with hinges and fittings without obstruction
- Reinforced head resists breakage during high-torque driving
Sizing and compatibility
At 6mm x 100mm, these screws are suitable for joining timber components of 50mm thickness and above, or for applications requiring deep penetration into structural timber. The 12 gauge diameter provides good holding power without excessive splitting risk. Verify that your timber species and density are compatible with woodscrews of this gauge; hardwoods and dense softwoods may benefit from pilot holes to prevent splitting.
- Length: 100mm — suitable for joining timbers 50mm+ thick
- Gauge: 12g — provides strong holding power in softwoods and hardwoods
- Head type: Double countersunk — sits flush when fully driven
- Pack size: 100 screws per box
Pre-installation checks and preparation
Before fixing, inspect timber for moisture content, knots, and grain direction. Timber should be at equilibrium moisture content (typically 12-15% for interior use). For hardwoods, dense softwoods, or timbers near knots, drill pilot holes slightly smaller than the screw shank to prevent splitting. Ensure your driver bit (PH or PZ) is in good condition and fits the recess properly to avoid camout. Check that the screw length allows adequate penetration into the receiving timber without breaking through.
- Pilot holes recommended for hardwoods and dense timbers
- Use a PH or PZ driver bit in good condition for reliable engagement
- Ensure timber moisture content is stable before fixing
- Verify screw length allows sufficient penetration without over-driving
