Fixing and buying guide

2440mm x 1220mm x 25mm MDF

What this product is for

This MDF sheet is suitable for interior joinery, fitted furniture, shelving, panelling and decorative applications. It works well where you need to veneer, laminate or apply paint and stain finishes. The 25mm thickness provides good rigidity for cabinet sides, shelves and structural elements in non-load-bearing interior settings. It is not recommended for external use or damp environments.

  • Interior fitted furniture and built-in cabinetry
  • Shelving and storage solutions
  • Veneered or laminated panels
  • Routed and shaped decorative elements
  • Painted or stained finishes

Sizing and pack contents

Each sheet measures 2440mm long by 1220mm wide and 25mm thick. This is a single sheet supply. The standard sheet size allows for efficient cutting and layout planning on most interior projects. Check your project dimensions and cutting plan before ordering to confirm quantity needed.

  • Single sheet per order
  • 2440mm x 1220mm face dimensions
  • 25mm thickness
  • Total area per sheet: 2.98 square metres

Preparation and fixing

MDF machines and cuts cleanly with sharp tools. Sand all edges and surfaces after cutting to remove dust and splinters, and to prepare for finishing. Seal cut edges with primer or edge sealer before painting or veneering to prevent moisture absorption. Support sheets adequately during transport and storage to prevent warping. Allow the material to acclimatise to site conditions for 48 hours before installation.

  • Use sharp saw blades and router bits for clean cuts
  • Sand all cut edges and surfaces thoroughly
  • Seal edges with primer or edge sealer before finishing
  • Store flat and supported on level ground
  • Allow 48 hours acclimatisation before fixing

Pre-installation checks

Inspect the sheet for damage, warping or moisture damage before use. Confirm the sheet is flat and undamaged. Check that your workshop or site conditions are dry and at normal room temperature. Verify your cutting and assembly plan fits within the 2440mm x 1220mm dimensions. Ensure you have appropriate fixings, adhesives and finishing materials for your intended application.

  • Check sheet is flat and free from damage
  • Confirm site conditions are dry
  • Verify project dimensions fit sheet size
  • Have fixings and adhesives ready
  • Plan finishing schedule (primer, paint or veneer)
